The American Collegiate Horsemen’s Association named
Jessica Schroeder as their National Communications Officer
in February 2005 in Fort Worth, Texas. Schroeder, a junior
at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has been a member
of Saddle & Sirloin for three years and is an active member of
the Wisconsin Harness Horse Association.
“Part of the reason why I ran for national office (of ACHA) is
because I want to be able to keep in touch with other
college
students who have the same interest in horses as
me,” Schroeder explained.
The ACHA is a collegiate organization that was founded in
2002 with nine collegiate horsemen’s associations at
universities across the U.S. The focus of the group is to
gain knowledge about, and prepare for careers in, the equine
industry. All aspects of the industry are addressed as members come from several varies backgrounds, including rodeo, showing, racing, etc. ACHA promotes the entire equine industry to build affiliations with professionals involved with the horse. The organization would like to become a group that equine business leaders can look to for interns and future employees.
